Six Flags Power Outage Turned Coaster Into Stairs

The last thing you want at a theme park, besides long lines and 98 degree weather with 100 percent humidity, is a power outage. Unfortunately for attendees at Six Flags Over Texas in Arlington, that’s exactly what they got. On May 16th, the Six Flags park experienced what a spokesperson described as “ technical issues ” attributed to high winds. No injuries were reported, but the outage decommissioned the entire park for the day including several rides, with at least one roller coaster halted mid-ride. The stopped coaster was fortunately not stuck in one of those awkward upside-down positions, but riders did have to walk down a knee-liquifying height of stairs to get off. In a video posted to X, some riders can be seen holding onto the railing for dear life as they make their way down which, same honestly.

According to Six Flags, the issue was resolved and the park opened for business the following day.
